Application Scenarios

Fixed-tube-sheet heat exchangers, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, boilers, and pressure vessels are the primary application scenarios for heat exchanger straight tubes. The media inside the tubes are typically water, steam, oil, or corrosive fluids, requiring the tubing to possess excellent thermal conductivity, pressure resistance, and corrosion resistance. The welded straight tubes produced by MTSCO meet the pressure requirements for high-pressure operating conditions. This product is also suitable for industries such as chemical processing, petroleum, marine, desalination, and geothermal energy. Manufacturing Process Flow

304L heat exchanger straight tube uses steel coils as raw material. After slitting and bending, the material proceeds directly to automated welding and in-line annealing, enabling continuous and efficient production. Subsequently, the tubes undergo end facing,  pickling, non-destructive testing, marking, final inspection, and packaging for storage. MTSCO’s heat exchanger straight tubes undergo 100% full-coverage inspection via in-line eddy current testing, with full process traceability, ensuring that every tube complies with international standards.

Manufacturing Process: Automatic Welding (PAW+GTAW)

Automatic welding is the core process in 304L welded tube fabrication. After the steel strip is formed, the tube seam is welded using a dual-shielded welding method—Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) for the root pass and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) for the cover pass—to create a weld with strength equivalent to the base material.

MTSCO’s factories are fully equipped with automated welding systems that monitor welding parameters in real time, effectively reducing defects such as slag inclusion, porosity, and lack of fusion.

Quality Control System

·Secondary Inspection of Raw Materials: Raw materials are sourced from major steel mills such as JISCO and TSINGSHAN, with each batch accompanied by an MTC and PMI. Upon arrival at the factory, a secondary verification is conducted to ensure that the material grade and chemical composition meet order specifications.

·Full Process Traceability: Every stage—bending, welding, annealing, and pickling—is documented with process cards and QC photographs, ensuring that the production records for every tube are verifiable and traceable.

·100% Pre-shipment Inspection: The MTSCO quality inspection team conducts comprehensive testing of finished products, including appearance, dimensions, PMI, and eddy current testing. We support third-party inspections by SGS, TÜV, and BV.

FAQ

Q1: What are the common materials for heat exchanger straight tubes? How should they be selected?

A1: Common materials include 304L, 316L, and duplex stainless steel 2205/2507. Due to the addition of molybdenum, 316L offers superior resistance to chloride corrosion compared to 304L, making it more suitable for seawater or saline environments; Duplex steel 2507 offers higher strength under high-temperature conditions. MTSCO can provide material selection recommendations based on the customer’s project medium, temperature, and pressure parameters.

 

Q2: What is the maximum delivery length for straight tubes?

A2: Standard straight tube lengths are ≤12m. For longer sections, coiled tube configurations are available (Siri Tubing offers a maximum single coil length of 15,000m). MTSCO supports customization of lengths and shapes according to project requirements.
